ISO 3758:2023, updates to care labelling

We are pleased to inform you that on 6 December 2023 version 4 of ISO 3758 was released, the new edition replacing the previous version 3 of 2012.

ISO 3758 is an important tool in the field of textile care, providing crucial guidelines for the cleaning and care of textile articles. This new update, ISO 3758:2023, introduces significant changes and improvements over its predecessor, offering clearer and more concise information for consumers and for laundry and dry-cleaning businesses.

The main changes include the introduction of new symbols and terminology, exemptions in the scope, the addition of new solvents and the graphic revision of some key symbols. These changes aim to improve understanding and facilitate best practice in textile care.

In particular, the most relevant new features are:

1. Introduction of a new symbol for hand washing at room temperature.
2. Addition of a new symbol for ironing without steam.
3. Introduction of new alternative solvents for dry cleaning.
4. Graphic changes to align some symbols with international standards.
